Tao, born in Monterrey, Mexico, is a versatile artist whose career spans music composition, film direction, production, and writing. With a deep-rooted passion for music, he began his musical education at the age of six and, by twelve, attended the National Conservatory of Music of the Institute of Fine Arts. At seventeen, he received a scholarship to study at the Conservatory of Warsaw in Poland under Professor W. Kotoñski. His pursuit of musical excellence led him to Paris in 1985 for advanced piano studies and, in 1988, to a composition course with Professor Leo Brower. In 1989, he was awarded a scholarship from the Council of Fine Arts of Detroit to study jazz music with Professor Juan Mora. Additionally, he explored electroacoustic music under the guidance of experts like Arturo Salinas. Tao is particularly celebrated for blending traditional Mexican sounds with modern influences, creating a unique auditory experience that resonates with audiences both locally and internationally. His performances feature energetic rhythms and heartfelt melodies, often incorporating traditional instruments alongside contemporary elements. In addition to his performance career, he actively engages in community projects and educational initiatives aimed at preserving and revitalizing Mexico's musical heritage. His work highlights the beauty of Mexican music while emphasizing the importance of cultural identity in a globalized world. Transitioning into the film industry, Tao contributed to notable projects such as The Mexican (2001), where he worked in the music department for the mariachi scenes. He wrote and directed El día (2009), a drama exploring profound themes. In 2018, he directed The Best-Kept Secret of Oaxaca, a documentary delving into the life and art of an under-recognized artist whose work has been exhibited globally. He is also the CEO of Mucha Luz! Productions LLC, a media production company specializing in film, television, electronic media, photography, art, and music. In recent years, he has been involved in animated projects. He produced the adult-animated sitcom Funny! created by Yaakov Mijares, which premiered on YouTube on March 28, 2022. Additionally, he serves as a producer, writer, and voice actor for the series, voicing the character Old Kinsjane. As he continues to evolve as an artist, Tao remains dedicated to exploring new creative horizons while honoring his roots. His diverse body of work reflects his commitment to artistic innovation, solidifying his reputation as a distinguished figure in music, film, and media.
