Violinist Serena was born in Beijing, China. She began her musical studies at age 4. She has been in the school orchestra since elementary school. She was the Principal Second Violin of the Golden Sail Symphony in the Beijing 101 Middle School, this school orchestra has received numerous gold prizes in several festival competitions, performed at the Sydney Opera House, and participated in the Orchestral Instruments Music Exchange in Sweden, and other achievements. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance from the Minzu University of China in 2020, studying with Zhenguo Pang. She received her Master’s Degree in Orchestral Instruments from the Mannes School of Music in 2022 and her Professional Studies Diploma in 2024, studying with Michelle Kim, who is the Assistant Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic. During her Bachelor period, she performed the Dvorak Piano Quintet with musicians from the Philadelphia Orchestra, including Concertmaster David Kim and viola player Rachel Ku, and her school students. She was the Concertmaster of Minzu University of China. During her Master's studies, she spent the spring semester of her first year at the Tianjin Juilliard, where she completed a recital. She served as the Assistant Concertmaster and Principal Second Violin of the Mannes Orchestra. Additionally, she had several materclasses with Charles Castleman, Haoming Xie and Charles Wetherbee. She also participated in Festival Napa Valley, performed concerts with Ray Chen, Jean Yves Thibaudet, Time For Three and Filippo Ciabatti. Serena is currently a member of a string quartet that won the first prize at the American Virtuoso International Music Competition in 2024.
