Cello
Mr. James is a cellist and educator with over 12 years of performance experience in a wide range of musical settings, including solo work, chamber ensembles, and orchestras. He has performed with multiple collegiate and regional ensembles and has taken on leadership roles within orchestral sections, contributing both musically and collaboratively to each group.
Mr. James is currently pursuing advanced studies in cello performance at the university level. Among his most memorable performance experiences are opportunities to perform internationally as part of an ensemble tour, presenting major orchestral works in multiple concert settings. These experiences broadened his musical perspective and remain a meaningful influence on his growth as a performer and teacher. He has also had the opportunity to perform chamber music alongside respected mentors, an experience he values greatly.
As a teacher, Mr. James finds deep fulfillment in guiding students through their musical development. He enjoys helping students discover what is possible on the cello and believes that teaching is about empowering students to grow into confident, capable musicians. Watching students progress and envisioning their future roles in the musical community is one of the most rewarding aspects of his work.
Outside of music, Mr. James enjoys staying active through sports. He has a long-standing love for baseball and is a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan. He also plays club volleyball to stay active, and believes that maintaining physical fitness positively supports his technique, endurance, and overall musicianship.
